Footium Weekly Update
Update from co-founder Jordan ๐ฃ
First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to all of the beta testers during the last season. The team undertook video feedback calls with random beta players, who provided some really great and interesting feedback alongside everything else in the feedback channels!
We wanted to give an update on when you can expect Phase 4 of the beta to be. Running beta seasons has been amazing to see, the creativity within the Footium community is unmatched and so many cool and unique things have been born from it! However it does take up a lot of development time, fixing bugs that will be eradicated anyway with the new match engine.
Due to this, the next beta season will not go live until a new major feature is added (expected to be the advanced match engine). We are estimating that this will be ready in two months time! Alongside this, the major tasks that the team are taking on is server infrastructure upgrades and implementation of the new front end. We are almost there with the infrastructure changes and making good headway with the new UI, however there are a lot of pages to code
Once the advanced match engine is complete, a world of possibilities open. This match engine will simulate every event that happens on the pitch, allowing in-depth match & player stats, advanced tactics, set pieces, player ratings & more! A lot of feedback we received during the last beta was 'I just don't know if what I am doing is working'. You will no longer have to worry about that with the advanced match engine because will be able to notice your direct impact on games by checking the possession stats after you make some changes or hooking your striker off the pitch because they are dropping a 2.2 rating!
In the meantime, while the devs are working away on the game, the rest of the team are building partnerships & making headway on some really exciting things. There is also an in person Footium community event in the works which we will share more details on soon
We are extremely excited about the game we are building with Footium and once again want to thank all of our amazing community for the continued support and enthusiasm for the game

Footium Wiki Released ๐
The Footium Wiki is an in-depth one-stop dive into the game which includes detailed descriptions of clubs and players, competitions, gameplay, prize pools and more! With Footium being in development, this will be a living document with more additions over the coming months.
There are some screenshots of the new UI that you haven't seen before so make sure to give it a thorough read! Feel free to give us any feedback on the Wiki and share with friends that are wanting to learn a bit more about Footium!
FFL Vote Open ๐ณ
We have been discussing ideas internally around players having nationalities within Footium. The discussion has been opened up to the whole community in the #โ๏ธfeedback-chat channel in the Footium Discord server over the last few days with lots of interesting different points of view. Before reading on, we recommend that you go and read/join the discussion that has been happening on Discord.
Some general ideas about how nationalities would eventually work within the game beyond being a flag on a players card:
โข At launch nationalities would be an aesthetic addition to a player card, allowing club owners to create more history/lore with their clubs/players
โข A few times a year there could be international competitions allowing each countries manager (AI or Community picked) to select a squad for the tournament
โข There would likely be prize pools for these international competitions with the proceeds split between the clubs that own the players in the winning countries' squad, alongside the country's manager.

โข Assign 16 real-world nationalities to all of the players within the Footium game, adding the nation to the player's card
โข Scope to add more real-world nationalities through future academy intake

โข Generate 16 new countries (names & flags) and assign them to players with flags appearing on cards
โข Community can get involved by selecting generated names, designing flags and building lore
โข Only selecting 16 real-world countries to start with could make some people feel left out
โข If we used real-world countries, we would then need to start matching ethnicities with countries, names with countries etc.
โข Uniqueness. The vision behind Footium is building a metaverse world for football, not just a game.
Leyton Orient ๐ฉณ
Leyton Orient have started their new season with two wins out of two (Must be that new short sponsor)! The shorts were looking great and Footium was featured on the EFL highlights broadcast on the newly installed LED advertising boards!
